100 Things to do before you leave Primary School

Within BLPP we aim to encourage and inspire all our children to participate in a variety of different experiences. As such, we have created ‘100 things to do before you leave primary school’. This list includes a wide, rich set of opportunities to develop talents and interests to find the things our pupils really love and enjoy. The 100 activities go beyond the curriculum to strengthen our offer to our young people, providing equality of opportunity for all.

Our Year 3 children had a truly special experience this summer as they took part in the Children’s University and proudly celebrated their achievements at the Graduation Ceremony. Dressed for the occasion and beaming with pride, the children were recognised for their commitment to learning beyond the classroom.

Children’s University is a charity that works in partnership with schools to inspire a love of learning. By encouraging children to take part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities—both in and outside of school—they help children discover new passions, build confidence, and develop valuable life skills. Research shows that these experiences have a powerful impact on a child’s development, improving attainment, resilience, and positive attitudes towards school.

With only 9% of a child’s waking life spent in a classroom, Children’s University focuses on making the most of the other 91%. Sadly, not all children have equal access to extra-curricular opportunities, and this can lead to significant gaps in confidence, aspirations, and achievement. That’s why Children’s University is committed to creating a level playing field, ensuring every child—regardless of background—can access enriching experiences.

Through their involvement, our Year 3 pupils have:

  • Discovered that learning can be fun, aspirational, and lifelong

  • Taken part in exciting new activities that motivate them to keep exploring

  • Built confidence and a strong belief in their abilities

  • Developed essential skills in line with the Skills Builder Framework

  • Gained resilience and learned to face challenges with determination

  • Felt empowered to make positive choices about their future

  • And, importantly, been celebrated by their families, school, and wider community

The graduation ceremony was a wonderful celebration of these achievements. Seeing our children walking across the stage, collecting their certificates, and smiling with pride reminded us just how valuable these opportunities are.

A huge well done to all our Year 3 graduates—your hard work, curiosity, and enthusiasm for learning have made us incredibly proud. We can’t wait to see where your learning journey takes you next!
