Breakfast Club

Oakwell Rise Primary Academy provides a Breakfast Club for all our students. The Breakfast Club is a place for all children to attend and not only enjoy a nutritional breakfast, but a chance for them to catch up with their friends before the school day by playing games including board games, air hockey, pool or by enjoying the outdoor sports club.

They can do their homework with peer or adult support or use the computer area.

The Breakfast Club is run by staff members from 8am with a range of breakfast items; cereals, fruit juice, porridge and bagels. With no charge to parents, this allows all children to access the Breakfast Club to receive a warm and hearty breakfast while developing skills by socialising with their peers in a range of games and activities.

Food items are provided by Magic Breakfast Club. Our partnership started in 2017 and continues to date. The food provided by Magic Breakfasts helps support the school in delivering such an important element to our community.

To celebrate 20 years of supporting school breakfast clubs, Kellogg’s has awarded Oakwell Rise Primary Academy, received £1,000 to enhance the club and help feed children in the morning. We were selected to receive this boost as Kellogg’s announce they are to double their investment in breakfast clubs in 2019 as more and more schools struggle to find the budget to fund this service for their pupils. We are grateful to receive this generous donation. We have since been able to purchase additional resources for our club. Kate Prince, Corporate Social Responsibility manager, at Kellogg’s, said “We’re proud to have spent 20 years supporting so many schools across the UK. We believe all children should have the opportunity to start the day with breakfast, and we know that equipment and resources are just as important to clubs as the food itself.”

Kellogg’s has supported 3,000 school breakfast clubs with funds, food and training over the last 20 years – that’s 70 million bowls of cereal to children all over the UK since 1998
