The first BPP competition of 2025
Dodgeball Delight at Oakwell Rise!
On Thursday, January 16th, 2025, Oakwell Rise Primary School was buzzing with excitement as we hosted a fantastic LKS2 dodgeball event! Sixty enthusiastic children from Oakwell Rise, Oakhill, and The Forest Academy, all part of the Barnsley Primary Partnership (BPP), joined us for an afternoon of fun and friendly competition.
The sports hall was transformed into a dodgeball arena, filled with laughter, cheers, and the thrilling thwack of dodgeballs. Children from the three participating schools formed teams and took to the court, ready to showcase their dodging and throwing skills. The emphasis of the day was firmly on participation and enjoyment, with everyone encouraged to get involved and have a good time.
The games were a whirlwind of activity, with players ducking, diving, and dodging with impressive agility. Some preferred a rapid-fire approach, launching a volley of throws, while others opted for a more strategic game, carefully aiming their shots. The energy in the hall was infectious, with every successful dodge and well-aimed throw met with cheers and applause.
While the games were certainly lively, the focus was always on sportsmanship and fair play. High-fives were exchanged, and words of encouragement were shared, creating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere. It was wonderful to see the children making new friends and working together as a team.
The event was a resounding success, filled with fun, laughter, and healthy activity. Every child who participated should be proud of their efforts and the positive spirit they brought to the games. A huge thank you to Oakwell Rise, Oakhill, and The Forest Academy for taking part, the dedicated staff who helped organise and run the event, and especially the sixty amazing children who made the day so memorable. We look forward to hosting more BPP sporting events in the future and continuing to promote a love of sport and physical activity amongst our local primary school children.
