Reception Rocks the Soft Play (Top Trumps Trip)!
Reception Rocks the Soft Play (Top Trumps Trip)!
Our Reception class had an absolute blast at the Crazy Club soft play at Barnsley Superbowl on Monday, 10th February! This special Top Trumps trip was a fantastic reward and a great opportunity for our youngest learners to let loose and have some fun. They explored the exciting soft play area with its slides, tunnels, and ball pits, developing their gross motor skills and coordination while they played. It was lovely to see them interacting with each other, building friendships, and growing in confidence. Trips like these are so important for Early Years development, and it was wonderful to see how much the children enjoyed themselves.

Blast Off! Year 5 & 6 Explore the National Space Centre
Our Year 5 and Year 6 students embarked on an exciting mission to the National Space Centre on Monday, 3rd February, as part of their topic for this half term! The trip provided an immersive and engaging experience, bringing their classroom learning to life and igniting their imaginations about the wonders of space.
From the moment they stepped through the doors, the children were captivated by the incredible exhibits. They explored the vastness of the universe, learning about planets, stars, galaxies, and the history of space exploration. The iconic Rocket Tower, showcasing impressive launch vehicles, was a definite highlight, leaving many in awe of the power and engineering involved in space travel.
Our young astronauts had the opportunity to interact with interactive displays, participate in workshops, and even experience a simulated space mission. They learned about the challenges astronauts face, from training and living in space to the science behind rocket propulsion and the search for life beyond Earth. The planetarium show was a particular favourite, offering a breathtaking journey through the cosmos.
This visit to the National Space Centre was more than just a fun day out; it was an invaluable learning experience. It allowed our students to deepen their understanding of their current topic, sparking curiosity and inspiring them to learn more about space and the universe. We hope that this trip has ignited a passion for science and exploration in some of our students, perhaps even inspiring the next generation of astronauts and space explorers!

Vikings, Fossils, and Fun! Year 3 & 4 Explore History at Jorvik and DIG
Year 3 and 4 had an amazing day stepping back in time at the Jorvik Viking Centre and DIG! This enrichment trip perfectly complemented their History topic on Anglo-Saxons, Scots, and Vikings, bringing their learning to life. We were blown away by their fantastic retention of knowledge, not only about Viking history but also about the roles of archaeologists and even their understanding of paleontology from their previous science topic on fossils! It’s wonderful to see their learning connect across different subjects. A truly memorable and enriching experience for all!
