Extreme Reader Trip
On Wednesday, 6 lucky winners of our Extreme Reader’s competition took a trip to Foster’s Little Bookshop. The children kicked off their visit with a story and a hot chocolate with Mr McHale, before venturing out into Barnsley. Children then had free roam of the children’s section to browse, looking for books that jumped out. Lots of excited page turning later and all children chose 1 (or 3) books! We can’t wait for next half term where we will be completing the ‘Masked Reader’ in our next reading competition.

A Morning of Triumph! Our Children Shine at the Panathlon Challenge!
What a fantastic morning some of our children had at the Panathlon School Events Challenge! The air was buzzing with excitement, determination, and incredible team spirit as our young athletes took part in a variety of engaging and accessible sporting activities.
From the moment they arrived, the children were enthusiastic and ready to give every challenge their best shot. The Panathlon events are specifically designed to be inclusive, ensuring that all participants can experience the thrill of competition, teamwork, and personal achievement.
Representing Our School with Pride
We are so incredibly proud of every child who participated. They all did an amazing job!
-
Effort and Determination: Their focus and commitment throughout the different events—whether it was precision beanbag throwing, relay races, or conquering the obstacle course—were truly inspiring.
-
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work: They cheered each other on, celebrated every success, and demonstrated wonderful sportsmanship, supporting fellow competitors from other schools as well.
-
Wonderful Ambassadors: They represented our school wonderfully, showing great respect for the event organizers, volunteers, and other teams. Their positive attitude and fantastic behaviour were commented on by several people!
More Than Just Competition
While a Panathlon event involves challenges, it’s about so much more than just winning. It’s about:
-
Building Confidence: Seeing the smiles on their faces after completing a task or mastering a new skill was priceless.
-
Encouraging Participation: Giving all children a chance to be active and discover the joy of sport.
-
Creating Memories: Sharing a fantastic, fun-filled experience with their friends and teachers.
A huge well done again to our brilliant team! You are all superstars, and we can’t wait to see what you achieve next!
House Point Competition – Week 7, Autumn 1
This week marked an exciting finale to our Autumn 1 House Point Competition, and what a way to round it off! The whole school came together to take part in our key phase tug of war competitions, with every child proudly representing their house colours and giving it their all.
The playground was filled with cheers, determination, and incredible team spirit as each house battled it out for those final crucial points. From the youngest pupils to the oldest, everyone played their part—digging in their heels, pulling together, and showing fantastic resilience and sportsmanship.
After a thrilling set of matches, it was the Red House who emerged victorious! Their hard work throughout the half term, combined with their brilliant performance in the tug of war, earned them the title of Autumn 1 House Point Winners.
To celebrate their achievement, the winning house enjoyed a well-deserved reward afternoon, complete with popcorn, ice cream, and a movie—a perfect way to relax after all their effort!
Well done to all our pupils for their enthusiasm and participation, and a huge congratulations to Red House for their amazing success. We can’t wait to see what the next half term brings!
